Fees
The fee to submit an FOI request is $5.00
iAGCO
You can file an FOI request online through iAGCO.
Overview
A Freedom of Information (FOI) request is an official request for information from an organization, such as the AGCO, covered by the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
Under FIPPA, members of the public have the right to request information from Ontario public sector organizations, such as Ontario Public Service (OPS) ministries and agencies including the AGCO.
Important: If you need help with your iAGCO account details or updating your personal information for your AGCO-issued licence, registration, permit, or authorization, please contact us.
Fees
A fee of $5.00 is required at the time you submit your request.
To complete the request, additional fees may apply, such as processing fees for the time required to search for and prepare the records. You’ll be notified in writing of any additional fees.
How long does it take?
You can expect a response from us within 30 calendar days of submitting your request. However, under some circumstances, we may need to extend this time frame. In such cases, you will be notified.
Step 1: Check existing information
The information you’re looking for may already be publicly available. Please visit our Open Data page to see what data is already publicly available, including:
- Issued licences, permits, authorizations and registrations
- Licensed alcohol retailers
- Current status of cannabis retail store applications
- Map of cannabis retail stores in Ontario
- Official lists for horses and horseracing
- Executive compensation framework for the public sector
- Travel, meal and hospitality expenses
If you need to update personal information for your AGCO-issued licence, registration, permit, or authorization, please log into your iAGCO account to make the changes.
Step 2: Prepare to submit your request
Before you submit your FOI request online, you’ll need to know what type of request you’re making. There are three types of FOI requests:
- Access to general records
- Access to own personal information
- Correction of own personal information
You should also have the following information ready:
- A description and time period of the records or correction you’re requesting.
- Documents to support your request, if needed.
Step 3: Submit and pay online
Use your existing iAGCO account to save time and allow us to process your request more quickly.
If you don’t have an iAGCO account, you’ll need to create one to submit your request online.
Note: If you submit an FOI request through your existing iAGCO account and you share access to this account with anyone else, they will also have access to the FOI request. If your account is shared and privacy/confidentiality is a concern, you should create a separate iAGCO account to submit your FOI request that only you have access to.
Once you’ve set up your iAGCO account, you can:
- File your FOI request
- Provide more information by uploading supporting documents
You must pay the $5.00 application fee online by credit card to submit your request.
Step 4: Wait to hear from us
The AGCO is required to respond to your request within 30 calendar days once received. However, under some circumstances, we may need to extend this time frame. FIPPA allows a request to be extended under certain circumstances, such as having to search through a large volume of records or if we need to seek consent to disclose information about a third party. In such cases, you will be notified in writing.
We may reach out to you for additional information or to clarify your request.
Processing fees may apply for the time required to locate and process the records requested. You will be advised in writing if additional fees apply.
Step 5: Access the requested records
Once your request has been processed, you will be notified in writing if the requested records can be provided to you and how you can access them.
