Gaming Registration Fee Schedule — Explanatory Notes

These registration fees apply to registrations in all areas of Ontario’s gaming industry, including casinos, charitable gaming, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) lotteries and internet gaming.

Exemption for OLG Lottery

Applicants looking to be registered as a Seller, or as a Category 1 Gaming Assistant, a Gaming-Related Supplier or Non-Gaming-Related Supplier who work in or provide goods and services exclusively to the OLG lottery sector are exempt from registration fees, as these costs are paid for directly by the OLG. If you are unsure whether you qualify for this exemption, please contact us by phone through the AGCO’s Customer Service Department at 416 326-8700 (GTA) or 1 800 522-2876 (toll-free in Ontario).

Operators

Operators of charitable gaming sites include operators of electronic bingo centres conducted and managed by the OLG, as well as operators of traditional paper-based bingo halls.

Operators of commercial gaming sites includes casino operators as well as operators of the OLG’s internet gaming site and the OLG lottery program.

Gaming Assistants

There are two classes of registration for gaming assistants under the Gaming Control Act, 1992. Individuals who exercise a significant level of decision-making authority or significant supervisory or training responsibilities must be registered as a Category 1 Gaming Assistant. Individuals who require registration but who do not exercise a significant level of decision-making authority or significant supervisory or training responsibilities must be registered as a Category 2 Gaming Assistant.

For more information and examples of positions that would qualify under each category of registration, check the gaming assistant web page for the gaming sector (e.g. casino, charitable, OLG lottery) in which you will be working.

Gaming Suppliers

As of January 1, 2015, there are two categories of Gaming-Related Supplier for fee-related purposes. Applicants are required to pay the fee corresponding to the type of goods and services they provide.

  • Manufacturers: This category covers suppliers who manufacture gaming equipment for use in gaming sites in Ontario. This includes manufacturers of gaming products and equipment such as bingo paper, break open tickets, instant lottery tickets, slot machines, electronic table games, bill validators, personal bingo verifiers and bingo blowers, among other things.
  • Equipment and services suppliers: This category covers suppliers who provide gaming-related services to gaming sites, break open ticket locations or charitable organizations that conduct and manage lotteries. This includes suppliers that coordinate and/or facilitate lottery schemes on behalf of charitable or religious organizations and/or supply and distribute gaming-related equipment to gaming sites or break open ticket locations, among other things.
