Effective January 1, 2023, First Nation Band Councils can approve temporary outdoor physical extensions (temporary patios) of liquor licensed premises and premises where a manufacturer by-the-glass endorsement applies.
If your licensed premises is located on a First Nations Reserve, you should apply to the AGCO for approval of your temporary patio, unless the Band Council of that reserve has chosen to manage temporary patio approvals themselves.
Note: First Nations Band Councils who wish to manage temporary patio approvals must pass a Band Council Resolution to that effect and email it to the AGCO at connect@agco.ca
The table below lists the First Nations Reserves whose Band Council have passed a resolution to approve temporary patios.
If your First Nation Reserve is listed below:
- Step 1: Contact your First Nation Band Council regarding approval processes and requirements
- Step 2: Upon approval, before selling or serving liquor on your patio, you are required to then notify the AGCO of the temporary patio approval and applicable approval details by making an online submission on the iAGCO portal.
