Moving Ahead: Horse Racing Regulation in Ontario

May 5, 2017 – The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) announced its intent to establish the ‘Moving Ahead: Horse Racing Regulation in Ontario’ AGCO-Stakeholder Working Groups on February 21, 2017. The announcement included an open call to the Horse Racing industry for membership in three Working Groups to review and make recommendations for policy reform in the following areas:
- Equine Drug Program
- Officiating
- Health and Safety (Equine & Human).
The AGCO is pleased to announce the following representatives have been selected to participate in the Equine Drug Program and Officiating Working Groups:

These Working Groups are comprised of a broad range of industry positions, industry associations, licensees as well as AGCO representatives. Three to five meetings will be held approximately once a month from May to August, 2017. The Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency (CPMA) will also be included in the discussions in the Equine Drug Program Working Group.
The membership list for the Health and Safety (Equine & Human) Working Group will be released in the late summer prior to the first meeting.
