Information Bulletin No. 83

July 14, 2017

On July 17, 2017, Great Blue Heron Casino will transition to the Standards-Based regulatory model, at which point all gaming sites in Ontario will be operating under the Registrar’s Standards for Gaming. The Standards-Based Approach to gaming regulation better targets risks and focuses on desired regulatory outcomes rather than specific rules or processes.

After this transition, approval letters for access to sensitive areas of gaming sites will no longer be necessary and will not be issued by the AGCO.  As is consistent with the Standards-Based regulatory approach, this change gives operators more flexibility in how they choose to comply with the Standards going forward.

Suppliers should contact the gaming site directly to obtain information on the access requirements and processes that each gaming site may have in place to control access to sensitive areas.

For more information about suppliers’ access to sensitive areas of gaming sites, please see Information Bulletin No. 79 – Supplier Access – Registrar’s Standards for Gaming 5.2 Sensitive Areas of Gaming Sites.
