We are proud to share that Dave Forestell, Chair of the AGCO Board of Directors, has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal—a prestigious honour that recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region, or community.
Dave was recognized for his exceptional dedication to the betterment of Ontario through his leadership in public policy and governance. With a deep commitment to innovation in public service, he has been a strong advocate for smart regulation and institutional excellence across the sectors we oversee.
Since joining the AGCO Board in 2018—and assuming the role of Chair in 2023—Dave has provided exemplary leadership and strategic oversight. His guidance ensures the AGCO continues to deliver on its mandate to regulate the alcohol, lottery and gaming, cannabis and horse racing sectors with honesty, integrity, transparency and in the public interest. His influence has supported the AGCO’s efforts to modernize regulation, strengthen public confidence, and deliver on our strategic priorities.
In addition to his contributions at the AGCO, Dave served as the inaugural board chair of iGaming Ontario and has held positions on several boards, including the Ontario College of Art and Design University, the Canadian Council for the Americas, the Canadian Club Toronto and the Advisory Council of the Lawrence National Centre for Policy and Management at the Ivey Business School at Western University.
The King Charles III Coronation Medal —created to mark the May 6, 2023 Coronation—is the first Canadian commemorative medal of its kind. Administered by the Chancellery of Honours, the medal features the Canadian Royal Crown and symbolizes distinguished service and dedication to others. Only 30,000 medals will be awarded nationwide.
“It is so important to recognize the extraordinary efforts of individuals who give selflessly to benefit others. This group spanning journalism, health care, arts, business, public service, and philanthropy are an inspiration and an irrefutable example of how one individual can make a difference in their community and country” said Farah Mohamed, Senator and CEO, The King’s Trust.
Congratulations, Dave, on this very well-deserved recognition!
