What’s changing

As part of the Government of Ontario’s efforts to expand Ontario’s alcohol retail market, active beer and cider grocery store licences and beer and wine grocery store licences will be transitioned to a grocery store licence on August 1, 2024. You do not need to apply for a new licence. This transition will happen automatically. You must follow the rules that applied to your beer and cider grocery store licence or beer and wine grocery store licence until July 31, 2024 with one exception; before August 1, 2024, you can, however, keep liquor that you will be allowed to sell on August 1, 2024.

Visit the selling alcohol in convenience and grocery stores page to learn more about grocery store licences.

Managing your current licence

If your current licence expires before August 1, 2024,  please proceed with your renewal as usual, online using iAGCO.
