On Friday, April 3, the Government of Ontario further extended measures to help contain the spread of COVID-19 and protect public health. The government has revised its list of essential services and is requiring all other businesses to close by 11:59 pm on Saturday April 4. This closure will be in effect for 14 days, with the possibility of an extension as the situation evolves.
As a result of this order, AGCO-authorized cannabis retail stores are required to close and stop retail operations, including both in-person sales and click-and-collect services. Under the Cannabis Licence Act, retail stores are not permitted to offer delivery of cannabis product. Consumers will continue to have access to recreational cannabis through the Ontario Cannabis Store which is able to provide consumers with Canada Post and same and next day delivery services.
These are very difficult times for all Ontarians and we appreciate how challenging these latest actions will be for Ontario citizens and authorized retail store operators.
We understand that the government continues to explore ways to support businesses and consumers in the current environment.
We will continue to publish new information as the situation evolves.
